- In the sixth month of summer in the guimao year I visited Dongshan. On the 24th I toured the Twenty-Four Bays; on the way I saw this small scene, quite typical of a Jiangnan water town, and sketched it. A supplementary note by Jianhou at the foot of Dongshan, at the sanatorium guesthouse, as an aid to recollection should I later forget.
